Camps & Classes for Elementary and Middle School Students

Welcome to Squirrelly!  We are excited to welcome your young artists and makers for a new collection of summer camps and after-school art classes.  Unless otherwise indicated, all of the camps and classes listed below are geared for ages 6-12, with room to move on either end.  During summer and fall 2021, all camps and classes will take place mostly outside on the patio at Wunderkind, at 3315 NE 55th Street.  We'll continue to follow Covid safety protocols, including wearing masks and frequent hand-washing.  All Squirrelly instructors have been fully vaccinated.  Please contact us anytime with questions, suggestions, or scholarship requests at info@squirrellyworkshop.com.

Summer 2021 OUTDOOR ART Camps

Join us in July and August for some rich and inspiring four-day summer camps outside on the Wunderkind patio.  Choose from one of four unique half-day camps, or sign up for both morning and afternoon camps and bring a lunch!  *Note:  If the camp you are interested in is FULL, please email us at info@squirrellyworkshop.com to be added to our waitlist.  We may also add camps this summer, so feel free to make a request for dates and projects that work for your family!

July 13 - 16, Tuesday through Friday

9:30am - Noon:  Under the Sea

The ocean is rich with life and color and so much inspiration for our budding artists. With this bountiful theme, we'll play with everything from Japanese fish printing to mural painting, gelatin printing, sculpture, and more.  We'll even tie-dye a big towel for special trips to the beach!  *FULL*

1:00 - 3:30pm:  Block Printing, Big and Small

A Squirrelly favorite!  Over the course of four days, we'll learn to design and carve small rubber blocks, learn to print with them on paper and fabric, and then take it to the next level!  As experts, we'll take our time designing a large block and create a lovely collection of frameable prints, as well as a super-groovy t-shirt.  If time allows, we'll also have some fun with making a printing block out of Jell-O and experimenting with layers of color.  As the kids will say, "this is so satisfying!"  *FULL*

1:00 - 3:30pm:  Miniature Playhouse

Dabble in woodworking, sculpture, and painting on a teeny-tiny scale!  We'll start by building a 3-sided, 2-story house out of wood, nails, glue, and paint.  Then, we'll create people and creatures from polymer clay, and furnish it with handmade furniture, even mini-paintings for the wall.  Come with fun ideas, and go home with a super-deluxe furnished playhouse to provide fun for the rest of the summer!  *FULL*

Since it's so much fun to wear the amazing things you make, we'll create a full collection.  Projects will include jewelry making, embroidery, print-making, acrylic marbling, and hand-sewing, and kids will create everything from funky socks and t-shirts to earrings and a gorgeous silk scarf.  Plenty of wearable art to share with mom and dad too!  *FULL*

Fall 2021 OUTDOOR ART Classes

Our plan is to keep breathing the fresh air, and continue outdoor art classes into the fall.  Come join us!  We'll study the masters, savor the fall coziness, and celebrate the holidays, all out on the Wunderkind patio (with periodic breaks and stations in the indoor classroom as needed.)  Check out the schedule and fun projects below.

Paint Like the Masters

During this 5-week series, we'll learn about famous artists, copy their techniques, then have a blast creating our own masterpieces from their example.  Picasso, Matisse, Van Gogh, Warhol, Kandinsky and Klee (and more!) will inspire us, and then we'll take our projects up a notch. Kids will create paintings, school supplies, and even a card game.  A great way to kick off the school year!  $225
